More Than a Breath Mint
Most mints cover up breath with sugar or synthetic sweeteners. Ora Flora mints are nearly pure organic birch xylitol — about 3g per mint — with a postbiotic lactobacillus blend and real botanical flavor. Sugar-free, food-grade, and made to dissolve slowly after meals.
Frequent between-meal consumption of foods high in sugars and starches promotes tooth decay. The xylitol in Ora Flora mints does not promote tooth decay.
Why Xylitol
The sugar-loving bacteria in your mouth can't ferment xylitol. They absorb it, can't use it, and burn energy trying. That's why xylitol has become the sweetener of choice for people serious about oral health — and why ours is nearly pure xylitol, not a candy with a little xylitol in it.
Pediatric dental guidelines describe 5–10g of xylitol a day, spread across several exposures, as the amount used in studies. Two to three Ora Flora mints gets you there.
What's Inside
- Organic birch xylitol — birch-derived, not corn. About 3g per mint.
- Postbiotic blend — L. salivarius AP-32, L. paracasei ET-66, and L. plantarum LPL28, three strains studied specifically for the oral environment. Supports a balanced oral microbiome. Postbiotics don't rely on live cultures surviving.
- CO2-extracted ginger and cinnamon — concentrated, full-spectrum botanicals, not flavoring.
- Organic menthol — cool and clean.

How to Use
Have one after meals. Hold it in your mouth and move it around as it dissolves — don't chew it. Two to three a day is the sweet spot. New to xylitol? Start with one or two a day; larger amounts can cause digestive upset in some people. They're also great after brushing at night.
Keep away from dogs — xylitol is toxic to them.
180g pouch, about 60 mints.
Mints vs. Gum
It comes down to dose and what's in it. A typical piece of xylitol gum has well under a gram of xylitol, and many mainstream gums have only a fraction of a gram. Each Ora Flora mint has about 3g, so two or three a day reaches the studied range without chewing pack after pack. And there's no gum base, which in conventional gum is made of synthetic polymers. Mints also suit people with dental work or jaw sensitivity. More in is chewing gum bad for you?
Frequently Asked Questions
How many xylitol mints should I have a day?
Two to three. At about 3g of xylitol each, that lands in the 5–10g range used in studies. Spread them out — after meals works best.
Can I have one before bed?
Yes. After brushing at night is one of the best times — xylitol doesn't feed the bacteria that ferment sugar.
Are there downsides to xylitol?
In larger amounts, xylitol can cause gas or loose stools in some people, especially at first. Start with one or two a day and build up. And keep them away from dogs — xylitol is toxic to them. We cover the research, including the 2024 heart study, in is xylitol bad for you?
Are xylitol mints better than xylitol gum?
For dose, usually yes: about 3g per mint versus well under a gram per piece of most gum, with no synthetic gum base. Mints are also easier on dental work and jaws.
Do xylitol mints help dry mouth?
Xylitol stimulates saliva, and a slow-dissolving mint keeps it going for longer, so many people with a dry mouth find them helpful. One after brushing at night is a good time if you wake up dry. More in dry mouth at night: causes and what helps.
